Sue and I headed out first thing to a local grocer who sold great pastries and ground coffee and milk. After breakfast she and I headed out for a hike on the coast path that heads to the nearest town, Zennor, that is six miles away. Piece of cake. The town is supposed to be 1000 years old with a 600 year old pub. The path was rough and muddy so we only made it 5.5k when we ran into a seasoned walker who advised rain would begin around 1:00 pm - it was 11:30. We turned back shortly. Zennor will have to wait another day. Stopped for a bite we had brought along then by 12:30 the wind and rain set in properly. This was a good Camino pretest for my golf rain pants and gortex lined trail shoes that worked admirably. Btw Charlie I was full Tilley double strap down. Sue mocked me but I was comforted later when Hannah advise the Tilley is actually 'cool' in circumstances where there is adventure afoot. Note to self - don't wear Tilley in town.

Made it back to St. Ives and our cosy pad by 1:00. After warming up we headed out to the Tate St. Ives gallery which had pieces by Picasso and Rothko as well as lots of local artists. Seems St. Ives was a real thing in art circles in its day. From the rotunda of the gallery you had a great view of the surfers in black wetsuits working in a significant surf. What seemed like gale force winds blew a significant spray back as the waves broke. Saw some great rides. We managed to get into a super cozy seafood place for dinner - The Mermaid - where we finally had a fish and chip meal - brilliant. On to the next adventure tomorrow.
